A Visual Approach to Developing Numeracy (SD33 Teachers/TTOCs/Admin ONLY)

This session will draw from the work of Cathy Marks K’rpan and #mtbos to explore the use of materials and provocations
that provide experiences for students to develop curricular competencies, including the use of manipulatives and instructional
routines such as Fraction Talks, Cube Conversations and Slow Reveal Graphs.

    Jen Carter is the K-12 Numeracy Coordinator for SD#22 Vernon, Treasurer for the BCAMT, Adjunct Professor for UBC Okanagan, and author for Pearson's Mathology.  Jen has past experience as an elementary vice principal and was a classroom teacher for 17 years working primarily in grades 1 - 3.  She is also a member of the BC Numeracy Network.
